We start the day by exploring the Tietê River lock, learning about its hydraulic engineering and water flow control. Next, we visited the Sagrado Coração de Jesus pottery, where the children met the master potters and took part in a practical workshop.

And with a special educational touch, we will visit the CEU Foundation (Centre for the Study of the Universe), where the children will have the opportunity to explore the world of science and astronomy in a fun and interactive way. With practical and educational activities, our young travellers will be inspired to discover more about the universe that surrounds them.

Barra Bonita, a municipality located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, is recognised for its quality of life, being listed in 2014 among the 10 best cities to live in the state. Despite its small population, it stands out for the charm and tranquillity it offers its inhabitants. One of its main attractions is the Tietê River lock, which attracts visitors due to the thrilling rides on offer there.

The name"Barra Bonita" was given to the town around 1883 or 1886, due to its privileged location on the banks of the River Tietê, where it meets the waters of a stream, forming a landscape of singular beauty. Since then, Barra Bonita has been an enchanting refuge for those seeking serenity and contact with nature, offering a unique combination of cosy atmosphere and breathtaking scenery.

Brotas is a Brazilian municipality located in the interior of the state of São Paulo. In 2003, the Brotas Municipal Sustainable Tourism Law was enacted, the first in Brazil for adventure and nature tourism, serving as a national benchmark and inspiring the standardisation of adventure and ecotourism tourism in the country. Brotas received recognition from the Green and Blue Municipality Programme in 2008 and in 2014 was designated a Tourist Resort by the State of São Paulo.

The origin of the name"Brotas" remains unknown, although there are four theories about it: the first suggests a relationship with water springs, the second with grass sprouts that appeared after hikers passed through, the third relates to the characteristic cakes made in the region, while the fourth and most plausible hypothesis refers to the origins of Brotas' founder, Dona Francisca Ribeiro dos Reis. A descendant of Portuguese Catholics and a devotee of "Nossa Senhora das Brotas", it is suggested that she named the town in honour of the saint.
